Hootsuite and Tweetdeck - The Battle of the Android

The Android versions of Hootsuite and Tweetdeck face off at the altar of Pragmatic Learning

A flurry of social networking clients for Twitter and Facebook saw Hootsuite and Tweetdeck emerge as two of the most used management tools for Social Media Marketing Services.

We have already seen Hootsuite win the Round 1 of this Hootsuite and Tweetdeck battle when it comprehensively emerged the better tool as a web client.Let's take a quick tour of the mobile versions of both. Interestingly, the wide gap that Hootsuite carved out earlier disappears when you compare the miniature versions of both these tools.

The major advantage that Hootsuite carried over Tweetdeck was of being a web client rather than a desktop client. So no overhead of installing the software, no burden on your RAM, no effect on the processing speed and that was where more than half of the battle was won. But this advantage doesn't work anymore when we talk about the mobile clients as both of these apps need to be installed on your machine.

A look at the pros and cons of both these tools Hootsuite and Tweetdeck :

The pros are almost constant for both the android clients but Hootsuite fails to make an impression in the field where it matters the most - the speed and efficiency. The app hangs most of the time, fails to send a tweet more or less often and takes a huge toll on you when you open it after few hours (you need to scroll all the way up the mountain of tweets to reach the live feed).

Though Tweetdeck needs to add on few features for the customization and work a bit on the look, its efficiency and better speed makes it the undisputed winner of this round.

This was a comparison between Hootsuite and Tweetdeck android clients. These are essentially the social media management tools and for the individual social networks, there is an array of apps which rate much above these tools. Seesmic has also emerged as a competitor in providing Social Media Marketing Services but its limited features has limited its competition as well.
