The Web is blacking out voluntarily. This never happened before. The reason – SOPA PIPA, the internet piracy bills in the US that are coming up for legislation. Wikipedia is leading the protest against the bills with a blackout today. Wikipedia’s move has elicited mixed reactions from the Internet community with its fare share of opponents and proponents. While Google has put up an appeal on its homepage against web censorship, Twitter and even some Wikipedia editors have criticized the blackouts.
